About Fred Sokol

CHAIRMAN,

Stop Abortion

in Rocky River

Committee

“The horror of Abortion will only stop when people start loving

their children."

- Fred Sokol

January 2, 2008

Fred Sokol's Values: I am Pro-Life (I support all human life from conception to the grave.) I’m Pro-Family, Pro-Individual, Conservative, Fiscally Conservative.  I’m ‘A Candidate’ that will serve all residents and taxpayers and a friend you can depend on.  I’m inspired /guided by sayings, “The People Shall Lead, and the Leaders Shall Follow.” & “To Serve Humanity, is The Best Work of Life.”

I also Believe in God and Country, Freedom, The U.S. Bill of Rights, American Self Determination, Responsibility, Strong, Kind and Ethical Leadership and “I Will Never Turn My Back On My Own!”  Why?  “We Are All Equal” and “We all have ‘A Right’ to good city government.”

"I walked your streets, down your driveways, up to your door and knocked.

I visited you in your home.  I listened to your concerns.  I even helped you settle city problems that you had.

I also helped you understand Rocky River’s political process.  When others would only give you a wink and a nod – and tell you.  You are like us - so think like us.

I helped you to think for yourself!"

- Fred Sokol

1.) My Community/Political Experience and My Successes.

  • I have community/political experience in - Rocky River, Cleveland, Lakewood, Parma, Linndale, Grafton and Shaker Heights since 1984.

    1984 - 1988

·      1984 through 1988 I belonged to the 'Lakewood Jaycees' a Young Leadership Organization dedicated to community leadership and service for others.  My main contribution to The Lakewood Jaycees and To The Lakewood Community was that I expanded The Lakewood Jaycees "Food Basket Program" until we were feeding hundreds of families throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas.  In order for this effort to be successful I worked to bring together the Lakewood Community so Lakewood Residents were helping Lakewood Residents.

·      1988 I was the proud Founder and 1st President of ‘The Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation'.  Which still serves residents.  I envisioned and established The Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation as the vehicle to takeover the task of serving the needy in Lakewood so we could successfully continue with the 'Food Basket Program' where we fed hundreds of families throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas.  While the Lakewood Jaycees then became just a partner to this said effort.

1990's, 2000 and Beyond.

·      Early 90's, As a volunteer, I visited with Jail Inmates at the Cuyahoga County Jail.  I listened and talked with inmates.  I prayed with them.  I encouraged them.  We are all equal under God!

·     1993 and since,  I have been involved in Community and Political Issues in Rocky River, Ohio.  See Below 1A.)  My Past Success For Rocky River Citizens

·       No ‘elected’ political experience.

·      1993, 1999 and 2001, I initiated and carried out a total of three (3) City-Wide Rocky River Municipal Elections for Rocky River Charter Amendments.

·      1996 and 2002 I attended/offered input at The Rocky River Charter Review Meetings.  (I was not a member of said Boards I attended as an interested and involved citizen at these said meetings.)

·      2003, I ran for City-Wide Council-At-Large in Rocky River.

·      2005, I ran for Mayor in Rocky River.

·      2007, I am seeking the Office of Mayor of Rocky River, Ohio.

·      June 2007, I will have 25 years of 'Service to the Public' with the Cuyahoga County Probate Court.  For of which I am very proud to be a part of and was 'a springboard' for my 'community and political' involvement and experience.

·       For said service, I was nominated by the Cuyahoga County Probate Court to be honored by the Cuyahoga County Bar Foundation on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Marriot at Key Center in downtown Cleveland at 12:00 p.m.   I received (along with other nominees from the other Cuyahoga County Courts') "The 2007 Franklin A. Polk Servants Merit Award".

1A.)  My Past Success For Rocky River Citizens

I've attended Rocky River council meetings since 1993.  I watched and know the city council and the city administration that has had a 'stranglehold' on the City of Rocky River since I started to attend

council meetings.

Though Rocky River City Government has total control of the City of Rocky River, its residents and businesses.   I helped fellow citizens and businesses STOP Rocky River City Hall's attempts at passing some very unpopular

city issues like ...

1993 – I helped STOP Rocky River City Hall's attempt to build a “Regional Minimum Security Jail” in a Rocky River, Ohio residential/business/ commercial district.  Yes, it almost happened.  Imagine a ‘Regional Minimum Security Jail’ holding possible Federal, State and Local prisoners in beautiful Rocky River?   Prisoners would have had ‘work release privileges’, allowing prisoners to possibly walk through Rocky River’s unsuspecting neighborhoods from 6 A.M. in the morning to 11 P.M. in the evening.  Now, isn’t that special?  It was stopped by a ‘very aggressive and protracted citizen opposition campaign, myself included’ that lasted years before it was finally stopped in Rocky River.  That Jail has not been built yet!  "I AM STILL WATCHING FOR IT!"

1995 I helped STOP Rocky River City Hall's attempt to ‘Privatize’ seven (7) divisions of Rocky River’s City Service Department which included garbage pick-up and street plowing etc.

1998  I helped STOP Rocky River City Hall's attempt to pass a ‘Criminal Trespass Law’ for almost anyone walking on a Rocky River Private or a Public Lawn (like a city park) without permission.  Perhaps the lady on council at the time who is still an elected Rocky River city official can explain why it was even considered?

2002 I helped STOP Rocky River City Hall's attempt to restrict Rocky River citizens at speaking at City Council Meetings.  Perhaps the lady on council at the time who is still an elected Rocky River city official can explain why it was even considered?

2004 I helped STOP Rocky River City Hall's 'power grab' attempt to have the mayor appoint the Police Chief and Fire Chief and they would serve at the pleasure of the mayor.   Politics should always stay out of Rocky River’s safety.  Perhaps the lady on council at the time who is still an elected Rocky River city official can explain why it was even considered?

2007 I am on record as opposing the idea that City Hall is now considering of ‘income tax sharing’ and ‘regional cooperation’ with Cleveland and other Cuyahoga County communities.  (A.) That said, it appears as of March 31, 2007 the Rocky River/Cleveland Regional Issues are up for further review.  (B.) Will Rocky River council agree to hand over ‘income tax money’ to Cleveland?  (C.)  Will Rocky River council agree to cooperate to uplift Cleveland rather than Rocky River?  (D.) Will Rocky River allow Cleveland to take over Rocky River’s waterlines?  (E.) Will Rocky River council lock residents into ‘a minimum 15 year deal’ with Cleveland?   (F.) Or will residents ‘stop council cold’ on this ridiculous idea?  (G.) In my opinion this will be the ‘biggest story’ with the biggest ramifications for Rocky River in 2007.   Perhaps the lady who is an elected Rocky River city official can explain why it was even considered?
